The work
What a visit looks like
- You cook 3–4 dishes the family chose from your menu.
- In their kitchen, with groceries the family buys. If you do the shopping, it's paid in advance through avokaza.
- You pack the food into containers and leave the kitchen clean.
- Don't share a language with the family? We translate everything: menu, allergies, requests.
We've got your back
You cook. We handle the rest.
Insured from day one
Accident and liability insurance on every visit.
Your menu, your rules
You cook what you do best. Families choose only from your dishes.
You choose the families
You see each family's request before you accept. You can say no to any booking.
Never chasing money
Families pay through avokaza. You always know how much and when.

Stories
What a week with avokaza looks like
“At home I cook for one now. Here I cook for a family again, and they text me photos of empty plates.”
“Three mornings a week, twenty minutes from my flat. It pays for my medicine and my granddaughter's English lessons.”
Illustrative stories. Real reviews will appear here after our first visits.
Questions cooks ask
Do I need to speak English or Portuguese?
No. We talk to you in your language and translate the menu, allergies and requests for the family. A smile is enough at the door.
I'm retired. Can I do this?
Yes. Many of the cooks we talk to are. In Portugal, pensioners working on recibos verdes are exempt from Social Security contributions on this income (foreign pensions included, with form RC3001). Income tax (IRS) is still declared once a year.
I'm here under temporary protection. Can I work?
Yes. Temporary protection and residence permits both allow you to work in Portugal. Bring your document to the interview.
Do I need a business or a website?
No website, no CV. You'll need open activity at Finanças (recibos verdes), which is free and takes about 10 minutes online.
How far will I travel?
We match you with families near your home, usually 20–30 minutes away. You choose the areas.
What if I don't like a family?
You can say no to any booking. You see each family's request, area and household before you accept.
