Questions families ask

Who are the cooks?

Home cooks who live in Cascais, Oeiras, Sintra and Lisbon, mostly women in their 50s, 60s and 70s: Portuguese, Ukrainian, Moldovan, Brazilian and more. avokaza connects you. Each cook presents her own menu, and you choose who comes to your home.

Are your cooks certified?

Some of our cooks have a professional background in restaurants, canteens or catering. Most are people who have cooked homemade food for their families all their lives. Each profile says which, so you can choose.

Do I need to be at home?

For the first visit, yes: you meet, show her the kitchen and agree how you like things done. Once you know each other, many families leave a key and come back to a full fridge. Key access is agreed directly between you and the cook, ideally in writing, and you can change it at any time.

Who buys the groceries?

Your choice. We send you a ready shopping list for Continente, Pingo Doce or El Corte Inglés, or your cook shops on the way and you pay her back at cost against the receipt.

Allergies, children, diets?

Tell us once and it goes into your household notes in her language: no nuts, less salt, mild for the kids, vegetarian on Mondays. She cooks with it in mind.

When can I start?

We're opening the first slots in Cascais, Oeiras and Lisbon in the coming weeks, matching families and cooks one by one. Register and you'll be among the first.

Your fridge, full by Monday lunchtime.
